Tyson Discovery Center Featured On Public Television Series
December 1, 2009 - The Tyson Discovery Center is being featured by a public television series called “America’s Heartland,” which airs stories about “people and places in the world of agriculture.” The episode on the Discovery Center, Tyson Foods’ research and development complex in Springdale, Arkansas, is about the creation of new foods for today’s consumers. Tyson Foods Names New CEO; Company Also Appoints Chief Operating Officer
November 19, 2009 - Chairman of the Board John Tyson, of Tyson Foods, Inc., announced today that the Board of Directors of Tyson Foods has chosen Donnie Smith, currently senior group vice president of Poultry and Prepared Foods, to be the company’s president and chief executive officer, effective immediately. Additionally, Jim Lochner, currently senior group vice president of Fresh Meats, has been named the company’s chief operating officer. Read more. >>

Cal-Maine Foods, Inc. Expands Board Of Directors And Elects Steve Sanders As New Member
July 24, 2009 - Cal-Maine Foods, Inc. announces that it has expanded its board of directors to a total of eight members. Following this action, Steve W. National Fish And Wildlife Foundation Announces New Partnership With Perdue
July 9, 2009 - The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation announced a new partnership with Perdue, the East Coast’s leading poultry provider, to help restore the Chesapeake Bay. Perdue has committed a total of $35,000 to the Foundation’s Chesapeake Bay Stewardship Fund to support habitat restoration and water quality improvement projects on the Delmarva Peninsula. Perdue Associates Pledge $503,000 To United Way
June 26, 2009 - To help build stronger communities for a brighter tomorrow, associates from Perdue locations recently pledged a combined $503,091 to local United Way campaigns. Pledges from some locations also include grants from the Arthur W. Perdue Foundation totaling $88,200. Read more. >>

Tyson Foods’ Archie Schaffer Named Executive Vice President, Corporate Affairs; Sara Lilygren Become
June 2, 2009 - Leland Tollett, interim president and chief executive officer of Tyson Foods, Inc., today named Archie Schaffer executive vice president, corporate affairs, a new position that is intended to enhance and expand the company’s role in the business community. Schaffer, who has been with the company 18 years, was previously senior vice president for external relations where he oversaw the company’s government, public and community relations efforts. Tyson Foods Honors Suppliers of the Year; Five companies selected for annual recognition
May 29, 2009 - Five companies have been named winners in the 4th annual Tyson Foods’ Supplier of the Year awards program, the company reported today. A-Tech, Inc., Hantover, Inc., Mid-Tec, Inc., FlexSol Packaging Corp., and Kerry Group, plc, were recently recognized by Tyson as Supplier of the Year in their respective categories. Each received a certificate of appreciation and a special crystal vase. The awards were based on continuous improvement contributions, performance surveys from Tyson locations, innovation, order fill rate, sales and technical support, ease of doing business, and diversity support efforts. Inland Bays Partnership Featured in GEMI-EDF Guide
April 22, 2009 - A successful partnership between Perdue Incorporated and the Center for the Inland Bays (CIB), a private non-profit organization under the US EPA’s National Estuary Program, is highlighted as a case example in the Global Environmental Management Initiative (GEMI) and the Environmental Defense Fund’s “Guide to Successful Corporation/NGO Partnerships.” In 2001, Perdue and CIB joined forces in an effort to maintain the quality of Delaware waterways. Tyson Foods And Kemin Open New Manufacturing Operation; Alliance Producing Flavor-Enhanced Ingredien
April 15, 2009 - Tyson Foods, Inc. and Kemin Industries, Inc. today announced the opening of a new manufacturing operation that is producing pet food flavor enhancers known as palatants under the Palasurance™ brand. The manufacturing initiative is the result of an alliance Tyson and Kemin formed in 2008 to develop, manufacture, market and sell liquid and dry palatants to pet food companies. The goal is to provide cost competitive, high quality pet food palatants from the sourcing of ingredients to the food bowl. Read more. >>

Holly Dyer To Retire April 4
March 30, 2009 - Holly Dyer, director of processing at Peco Foods Inc., will retire April 4 after a career spanning nearly 50 years. Dyer, a native and lifelong resident of Pickens County, began his career in 1960 with the original Poultry and Egg Co. In 1968, when Peco founder Herman Hickman merged his hatchery with the egg company to create the present-day Peco Foods, Dyer was part of the first management team. As director of processing, he helped guide the company's growth. Today Peco's holdings include four kill plants, two further processing plants, three hatcheries and four feed mills located in Alabama and Mississippi. In announcing Dyer's retirement, the company noted he had earned a reputation for expertise in industry regulations and advancements in poultry processing, and that during his years of service, Peco Foods became known globally for production efficiency, product quality and mastery of emerging technology.
