Poultry Wastewater Operators Training Program - November 15-16, 2011, Salisbury, Maryland

The U.S. Poultry & Egg Association has developed a Poultry Wastewater Operators Training Program. The course introduces students to the regulatory structure governing poultry plant effluents; provides a primer in math, chemistry, and microbiology; and covers the predominant equipment and systems used to properly treat poultry effluent prior to discharge. The course is primarily geared toward operators and supervisors involved in poultry wastewater treatment for two years or less. The course will be led by Paul Bredwell, vice president, environmental programs, U.S. Poultry & Egg Association. All attendees will be awarded a certificate of completion.

Class size is limited to 20 people. Registrations are processed on a first-come first-served basis.

The seminar begins with sign-in from 8 - 8:30 a.m. Sessions are scheduled from 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Tuesday, and from 8:30 a.m. - approximately 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

The enrollment fee is $195 per person for USPOULTRY member company representatives and $390 per person for nonmember company representatives. The fee covers lunch on both days.

The next Wastewater Operators Training Class will be held at the Perdue Training Center, 800 Albert Street, Salisbury, MD 21804, November 15-16, 2011.

2012 CLEAN WATER AWARD

The Clean Water Award recognizes outstanding wastewater treatment facilities operated by poultry companies.
An award is presented yearly in two categories: full treatment and partial treatment.

FAMILY FARM ENVIRONMENTAL EXCELLENCE AWARD

The Family Farm Environmental Excellence Award recognizes exemplary environmental stewardship
by family farmers engaged in poultry and egg production. The award program is open to family-owned
poultry growers or egg producers who supply a product to a USPOULTRY member or an independent
producer who is a USPOULTRY member.

Awards are presented once each year. Typically one award is given to a family farm from each geographic region
in the United States.

The Stormwater Pollution Prevention Training Program provides the history and rationale behind the development of the National
Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permitting program and also details the requirements of an acceptable Storm Water Pollution
Prevention Plan.

 

The Carbon Footprint Estimation Toolkit assists facilities in evaluating their carbon footprint. It was developed in response to the
Environmental Protection Agency's greenhouse gas (GHG) reporting requirements and potential GHG regulatory requirements
associated with Greenhouse Gases Tailoring Rule.
