USPOULTRY
and NTF Are Wild About Turkey
The
U.S. Poultry & Egg Association and the National Turkey Federation
co-sponsor foodservice marketing programs to build the awareness
of turkey in the commercial foodservice market. The 2002 campaign
built on the previous year's success, focusing on driving traffic
to the eatturkey.com Web site. More than 353,000 visitors logged
onto the site, up 23 percent from the previous year.
The federation also launched a pilot retail marketing program
in 2002. The campaign, entitled "Give Turkey a Turn," was
designed to overcome the number-one reason consumers don't eat
turkey: they simply don't think of it as a year-round dinner entree.
The campaign consisted of advertising, promotions, and public relations
efforts in three cities: Charlotte, N.C.; Columbus, Ohio;
and Sacramento, Calif.
