Barton Elected Chair of PAACO
Dr. James Barton, senior veterinarian responsible for
poultry health and welfare at Tyson Foods, has been
elected chairman of the board of the Professional
Animal Auditor Certification Organization. Dr. David
Hermes, regional veterinarian for Perdue Farms, will
serve as vice chairman. Dr. Darcie Stolz, who manages

Agriculture Secretary Mike Johanns has resigned
from his position as agriculture secretary.

USAPEEC Elects Chairman
Mark Blanchard, executive vice president of
NOCS, has been elected chairman of the
USA Poultry & Egg
Export Council for 2007-08. He will oversee

Jerry Straughan, general manager of Cal-Maine
Foods of Shady Dale, Ga., has been elected
to serve another term as chairman of the
Georgia Egg Commission’s

ConAgra Announces New Chief Marketing
Officer
Joan K. Chow has joined ConAgra Foods as executive
vice president and chief marketing officer.
Chow was previously senior vice president and

AEB Makes Staff Changes
Kevin Burkhum has been appointed vice president
of marketing at the American Egg Board.
He will direct AEB’s marketing activities as well as oversee
its foodservice and consumer education programs.
Cindy McGarrigle has been named vice president of
industry programs. She will be responsible for the
association’s industry relations program as
well as its retail advertising and research program.
Elisa Maloberti has been promoted to director of
egg product marketing. She will handle AEB’s
